It is an interesting fact that honey – yes that sweet stuff made by bees – is in actual fact really beneficial for the skin.

Another great acne treatment you can try is a honey mask that uses honey’s miraculous healing properties as well as tea tree essential oil – known for being an antimicrobial agent with antifungal and antiseptic properties. Simply combine a few drops of tea tree essential oil in a tablespoon of raw honey and apply regularly to cleansed skin. Combining these two powerful ingredients and you have a potent acne-curing face mask.
If you suffer from red, inflamed and itchy skin prone to allergic reactions, then perhaps honey masks with Aloe vera are just what you need. Aloe vera has incredible moisturizing, soothing, toning, and smoothing properties. To make these honey masks, simply add a few drops of raw honey to a tablespoon of aloe vera. This should be prepared freshly every time. Apply it to a cleansed face for 10 to 15 minutes once or twice a week. You will soon notice a marked improvement. The layers of your skin renew every 7 days, so you can start to see improvement after just one week.
Tips for making your own honey masks
To reap the benefits of your honey masks, you must prepare them freshly every time, and preferably from organic, natural sources.Always filter your honey prior to using it. Raw, unfiltered honey can contain dust, pollen grains, and other foreign elements that may cause irritation to your skin.
Always do a patch test for your honey masks before using them. If you have sensitive skin you should make sure that your homemade mask does not give you a reaction or make you break out.
Now you might ask why honey masks are not part of everyone’s beauty routine if they are so wonderful for the skin. People are often discouraged from using them because they are sticky and messy. They also don’t want to make fresh honey masks every time when they have such busy lives.
